But now Joshua looks set to fight mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin in September.

He wrote on Twitter: "Sorry for not posting in a while.. I've just been hanging around waiting for a signature."

His words come after promoter Eddie Hearn claimed to be waiting on Wilder to sign the contract.

But the Alabama boxer, who is the WBC heavyweight champion, disputes those claims.

Last month, he broke his silence and wrote on social media that he'd accepted a low offer to make the fight happen.

Wilder wrote: "My team and I bent over backwards.

"Accepting everything they threw at us just to find out this Boy is terrified of me p***y.

"I'm sorry guys they played us all."

Joshua (21-0) will almost certainly fight Russian Povetkin now, though, as the WBA told him he risks losing his belt.

A super-fight between Joshua and Wilder is now not likely to take place until 2019.
