CONOR McGregor has been hailed as a hero of the sport who has taken mixed martial arts to the next level.


But "The Notorious" is charged with assault after attacking rivals at a UFC event, and is due to appear in court this week to answer the case. The incidecent has called his career into question - here's what we know about the lapsed superstar.

Who is Conor McGregor, who's his girlfriend and what is his net worth?


The 29-year-old is a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion and a former featherweight champ.


The Irishman, from Crumlin in Dublin, has been active since 2008 but turned pro in 2017.



He has been with his girlfriend Dee Devlin, since 2008, and their first son was born on May 5, 2017.


In 2017, McGregor announced he would take time off from the UFC to wait for the birth of his first child.


He has been crowned at the top of his game in both featherweight and now lightweight categories, but was stripped of his lightweight champion on Thursday, April 5.


On the same day he is alleged to have carried out a violent attack on his rvials' bus at the UFC 223, and has now been charged with assault and banned from the prestigious contest.



McGregor has earned a staggering amount in his decade-long career.


The MMA superstar is known mostly as a striker and prefers to fight standing up as opposed to on the ground.


In 2017 McGregor was rated number 24 on Forbes World's Highest-Paid Athletes.


His net worth in December 2017 was estimated at $34million (£24.2million).


As well as amassing a salary and winnings of $27million (£19million) in salary and winnings, he has also racked up $7million (£5million) on sponsorship and endorsements.


What happened in the New York bus attack and was he charged?


The superstar was charged with three counts of assault and one of criminal mischief by US courts after he gatecrashed a UFC media day.


In April 2018 in a moment of madness, he burst into the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and threw a dolly into fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov's bus.


McGregor was allowed to return to Ireland, but returns to court on June 14 and is facing a maximum jail sentence of seven years.


The bus attack left Mike Chiesa and Ray Borg injured and unable to appear at UFC 223 in Brooklyn on Saturday night.

What cars and homes does the UFC champ own?


McGregor spent $2million (£1.5million) on a new mansion, called Ladycastle in County Kildaire, Ireland, following his victory against Aldo in 2015.


He was previously holed up with his parents in their home in the Laraghcon estate in Lucan when travelling back to Ireland from the US.


McGregor is believed to have eight cars, including a gleaming white BMW i8, Cadillac Escalade and a high-powered Mercedes.


But his pride and joy is his a Rolls Royce Dawn, one of the most luxurious Rolls Royce’s for sale, where he shared a photo on his Instagram page.


They can retail as much as $350,000 (£275,000) on the market.


He even gifted close members of his family with a BMW each following the winnings he bagged from the Aldo fight.


What happened with McGregor vs Mayweather?


The professional boxing match between Conor McGregor, the two-division mixed martial arts world champion and eleven-time five-division boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr was titled the as "The Biggest Fight in Combat Sports History".


The meeting was even dubbed "The Money Fight" for the unrivalled winnings involved.


The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds and took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, on August 26, 2017.


It recorded the second highest pay-per-view buy rate in history.


Mayweather extended his professional boxing undefeated streak to 50 victories and 0 defeats (50–0), surpassing the 49–0 record of Hall of Famer Rocky Marciano, after defeating McGregor by technical knockout in the 10th round.


However, both men came away winners in other respects.


It was reported Mayweather earned over $300,000,000 (£214million) from the fight and McGregor came away with $100million (£71million).



What happened on UFC 223 Media Day?


MMA champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and Artem Lobov are believed to have had a minor altercation in which Khabib Nurmagomedov cornered Lobov.


The groups are said to have a history of lengthy insults and confrontations.


Then, two days later on Thursday, April 5, McGregor, Lobov and a group of others allegedly attacked a bus with Nurmagomedov and his teammates on as they left the UFC 223 arena in Brooklyn.


McGregor allegedly ran up alongside the slowly moving bus and then ran past it to grab a metal equipment dolly, which he then threw at the bus's window.


A video appears to show McGregor looking for and picking up any objects in the vicinity to throw.


The incident occurred at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, where the UFC had gathered to promote Saturday's show, headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway.


He turned himself into police custody at 9pm local time on Thursday  (02:00 BST on Friday).


On April 6, 2018, McGregor was charged by the NYPD with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief. Lobov has also been suspended from the bill.


A day later, the fighter was released on bail, set for £35,500 ($50,000).


The former two-weight champion has not yet entered a plea and his next hearing is on 14 June.


Holloway has been ruled out of the fight following the incident after being ruled "medically unstable".


According to the UFC, two fighters were injured and have been withdrawn from Saturday's undercard.


Lightweight Michael Chiesa received several facial cuts, while flyweight Ray Borg suffered an eye injury.


Lobov has also been removed from the bill, due to his alleged involvement in the altercation.
